Who can benefit from Mind the Test?

Mind the Test offers intensive one-on-one and small group skill-building courses for students who want to work hard to get results. Students will learn new techniques, new ways of thinking, and new, cutting-edge research-based study techniques.

As an educator, I hold the controversial belief that test prep education can and should be real education, and I connect the skills we study in class to real-world applications. I emphasize not “beating the test,” but rather a more holistic approach: understanding what the test is asking, why those skills might be important in real life, and then building those underlying skills and thought processes. Lessons will be engaging, unique, and adapted to each student's needs. I listen and respect each student as an individual. In exchange, students are expected to dedicate serious time and energy to their studies.

Metacognition: learning how the mind learns

Mind the Test offers, to my knowledge, the only cognitive psychology-based test preparation courses in the region. My courses have a unique focus on psychology research-backed study skills, allowing students to learn more in less time. Students not only learn efficiently, using techniques derived from cognitive science (including spaced repetition, active recall, and self-testing), but they also learn enough underlying psychology and metacognition to understand why those techniques are so effective. Students take ownership of their learning process and learn to apply these research-based study skills to help them succeed in high school and college.
